Listen to the
cascading waterfalls, laughing, gurgling, and playing
with the Koi, the water lilies, and the cat tails that
constitute the underwater world, the universe for the
wildlife living, breathing, swimming, and swaying in
your pond.
The breeze flows gently over your forehead
and shoulders. The robins, cardinals, and hummingbirds,
dance with the squirrels, rabbits, and other assorted
critters that are seduced by your backyard paradise.
They scurry around, scouring the premises
for food and fun. Problems of the daily grind slowly
recede from your consciousness, melt into the shadows,
and finally disappear voluntarily over the horizon.
You become acutely aware of your own
breathing as you bask in the sounds and aromas of mother
nature that occupy an ever higher and higher percentage
of your mind.
Time passes without measure. Shadows lengthen.
By the time you return from your backyard vacation,
every ounce of stress has been eliminated from your
muscles, your joints, your mind. You are complete in
a way that you could never be in the midst of the rat
race, the grind, the J.O.B.
Now snap your fingers… very gently.

Take another deep breath and stretch once
again. Do you feel like you just followed Alice down
the rabbit hole, or Dorothy and Toto over the rainbow,
minus the Mad Hatter and the Wicked Witch of the West?
Well in a sense you have. You’ve
just escaped into a unique, partially underwater world,
a twilight zone of sorts that modern types, ranging
from baby boomers to grandmas and grandpas are discovering
at a dizzying pace.
This world is technically referred to
as “the water gardening world” and it effectively
serves as a back yard haven, a predictable escape from
the rat race, allowing sanity and continuity to regroup,
to take root, and to grow in a way that makes all the
rest more tolerable, meaningful, and even enjoyable.
It’s a world of natural, holistic,
and organic streams, ponds, waterfalls, and wildlife.
It’s a world of relaxation. It’s a world
of pleasure… pure, unadulterated, tranquil, and
peaceful pleasure. |
